Under the theme of ‘Responsibly Developing the Region’s Resources for a Prosperous and Sustainable Future’ the summit provided First Meridian the opportunity to hear from government, meet the major operators, licence holders, tier one contractors, service companies and the entire value chain in Guyana’s emerging hydrocarbons sector.
First Meridian conducted in-depth discussions with stakeholders in the value chain of oil exploration, production and the service sector onshore in Suriname and Guyana about Offshore Safety Hazards:
Being Prepared with training from First Meridian. https://guyanasurinameoffshore.com/
All personnel must be familiar with the safety instructions before being allowed outside the login location, whether it is a one-time, short visit or a longer stay. The facility's permanent working crew members can be pre-trained onshore at the First Meridian NV as a qualification for the offshore position and receive an internationally valid safety card certifying that the training has been successfully completed. Crew members must periodically renew their training at First Meridian.
Due to the nature of the offshore safety risks and the potential for serious injury, proper training for all crew members is important. Crew members are often required to attend training sessions and participate in safety drills to prepare for offshore safety risks. First Meridian provides all maritime and offshore training sessions.
First Meridian has purchased the Simulator for Suriname and Guyana and is on its way for shipment. We started the process of building, testing, training and getting certified by OPITO.
OPITO-approved training providers can be found all over the world, following the standards and providing safety and competence training to OPITO-approved students. Training certificates are designed to be delivered through an OPITO approved center.
First Meridian is on track to launch the first OPITO Approved Center for Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) with Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) in the Guyanas.
First Meridian training programme is designed to meet the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry who will be supplied with a compressed air emergency breathing system (CA-EBS) during offshore helicopter travel.
