Covid 19 Policy
First Meridian has a duty to provide and maintain a safe learning and workplace, free from known dangers. We therefore adopted a policy to protect the health of our students and professional trainers and their families; our business customers and suppliers; and the Surinamese community in general against infectious diseases, such as COVID-19 or flu, which are proven to be reduced by vaccinations. This policy will comply with all applicable laws, and is based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, if applicable.
Training Center Paramaribo
We, at First Meridian, have been working hard, and we have recently declared the Paramaribo training center operational. We are now awaiting the latest audit results and certifications. The international certifying authorities such as the maritime authority Suriname, STCW, OPITO and ISO (DNV), are now working on the recent reviews and recommendations. In the third quarter, this will be completed and we can start on schedule from the 4th quarter 2021 on, with the following training courses that meet the conditions of the IMO Convention.

Main Building
Training center features 3 classrooms, 16 crew quarters, all according to the latest Covid standards. Our facilities also have a fire fighting lane, confined space entry and a working at height simulator. For sea survival training, delegates can use the pool with the mandatory equipment for training.
Team of international and local instructors will provide different courses serving as point of excellence in offshore safety training in Suriname and Guyana

Capacity building is a key element in order to get desired results for the industry that First Meridian operates in. These industries are the maritime and Oil & gas sector, ports, and terminals or logistics, and the mining industry. From pre-vocational to vocational and higher education, together with our partner STC International and STC-KNRM is supporting to build the capacity in Suriname & Guyana on different levels. First Meridian and its partners do this by training their staff for functions they have within their field of expertise at the training facility in Suriname. We have developed train-the-trainer programs, so we can train our local staff. We do this with proven didactically and practical processes for knowledge and skill development. With this, we know can fully support building the local content the region of the Guyana’s.
First Meridian is working together with El Dorado Offshore to develop a safe and skilled energy workforce, by:
· Driving standards and qualifications
· Creating workforce development solutions
· Leading dialogue with industries and governments in Guyana and Suriname
· Certification of “EDO” personnel.
